“Truth is the only safe ground to stand upon”

I think this means that if you lie there is no where you can go put down.

Attention to Detail

Attention to Detail
7 of 10
When you double-check your calculation for math problem or cite sources carefully in a research or cite sources carefully in a research paper, you’re paying close attention to detail. That skill comes in handy in any workplace, whether you maintain a database, keep a log of the hours you spend with clients or write e-mails.
John Wooden, UCLA’s former great basketball coach who lead his team to ten consecutive national championship, was asked what he attributed his success to. Among a number of things, he attributed his success to. Among the numbers of things, he mentioned that paying attention to details was one of the most important qualities for successful coaching and for high achievement in any worthwhile pursuit. He even paid attention to how his players would lace up and tie their shoe strings. If they didn’t tie them correctly, he would teach them how.
Details may be small things but from small thing come great things; therefore pay attention to detail and you will experience substantial progress in your overall educational attainment.

Problem solving goes for beyond your math textbook. Every assignment is an opportunity to weigh all possible solution carefully and choose the one you think is best. As a working professional, you’ll be solving problems regularly, whether it’s fixing a bug in a computer program or overcoming budget shortfalls. Problem solving situations occur extensively and frequently; therefore be ready when then come.
When problems or challenges occur, some people look at them at negative experience as a crisis; these people are the ones who live day by day with gloom and negativism in their attitude. But the really successful people those who look at problems as opportunities to learn, grow.

Individually you can achieve so much, but when you work with others for a common cause, the same objectives, you can accomplish a tremendous amount more. You synergize your talents, knowledge, and skills with those whom you work. All members of the team are edified together, a type of edification you can’t obtain by working alone.

Speaking skills

Speaking skills
2 of 10
When you’re assigned a class presentation, think twice before dismissing it as an unimportant part of your education. Employers look for speaking skills in job applicants, who may have too soon to practice good eye contact and other public speaking techniques.
According to the book of lists, fear of public specking ranks number one in the minds of the majority of people. Far above the fear of death and disease, comes the fear of standing in front of a crowd. Joel Weiner noted author and public speaker wants to help people overcome the fear.
“The biggest fear is public speaking, with 15 percent of American experiencing a dramatic fear of it,” said Dr. Michael Telch of the laboratory for the study of anxiety disorder (LSAD) in the department of psychology at the University of Texas at Austin. “People have to turn down jobs, and certainly students have dropped class because of it.”
Regardless of your occupation, your success depends a great deal upon your ability to communicate effectively! Whether you’re running a meeting, selling a product, making a presentation motivating co-worker or just communicating one-on-one with others, you’ll get far better results if you can speak persuasively, smoothly and intelligently.

“Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talents will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan ‘Press on’ has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.”
Calvin Coolidge
If you have Persistence and determination you can do thing you dream of.

Writing skills

Writing skills

Communication is at the top of the list of skills that employers look for. And communication in the workplace often means writing.
Health professionals keep patient charts, researchers depend on the money they collect by writing grants applications, software engineers write technical specifications and nearly everyone writes technical specifications, and nearly everyone writes email to people inside and outside their organization. And people inside and outside their organization. And before you even get the chance to interview for a job, you’ll need to present yourself in cover letters and resumes.
So, by taking writing serious and doing your best on every research paper, every lab report you write, every new post write in your blog site and every writing activity you engage in your preparing yourself for a good career.

Online

Online
Read between the lines
Make a judgment about the site’s reliability based on your own analysis and the information contains. Here are some ways to do this:
·         Look for facts you know or can check with a trusted source. If the site gets those facts right, it’s more likely that the other facts on the site are also accurate.
·         Study the language used. It is angry, satiric or overly impassioned? This may indicate that the site is biased.
·         Consider whether the arguments are logical and backed up by evidence and whether the site presents only one point of view.
·         Check the links to the sources that the author acknowledges scholarly writing, whether in  print or online, should include a bibliography.

Do what?
Look at the site’s address. What follow the dot?
·         Dot-com is not only for businesses; anyone can use it. Dot-com includes well unknown and respected companies, but also private individuals.
·         Dot-org usually indicates a not-for-profit organization. Many dot-orgs present unbiased information, but others have political agendas, focus on debatable issues instead of fact, and might not present all sides of an argument.
·         Dot-gov indicates a government website at the federal, state or local level. The federal government is a good source of statistics, and its sites are widely considered among the most reliable.
·         Dot-edu usually indicates a university website. While its published research is generally considered very trustworthy, anyone associated with university, weather a world- renewed scholar or a freshman, can be given space course work up on the web, but that doesn’t mean they’re vouching for the information accuracy.

                     Research with attitude
Conduct your research with the attitude of a skeptic. As you examine websites for clues that they’re trustworthy, ask these questions:
·         Who wrote the web page? If you can’t identify the individual or organization responsible for the information, don’t use it.
·         What are the author’s qualifications for writing on the subject?
·         Has the article passed through an editorial process designed to ensure quality and accuracy?
·         What is the website purpose? Look for motive like selling products or winning votes that could result in biased or incomplete information.
·         Is the information accurate? Is it up to date?
·         Where did the author get this information?

It’s online, but is it on target?

Part1

Using the Web Wisely

Thanks to the web, information is easy to find. However, it’s also easy to post something online. Anyone can do it. You’ve probably used the Internet to do research for a paper, to help you decide which product to buy, or to form an opinion about current events. Looking up information online is fast and convenient. But when you do online research, it’s important to find sites you can trust. Many websites claim to have the facts, but are full of errors. Others present information in a biased way they only give one side of an argument. How can you tell a reliable source from an unreliable one? Also, it is critical that you post online only that which is descent and appropriates, never anything pornographic, vulgar, indecent, out of taste, untruthful, or obscene. Post those things that will make a good name for you and your organization, that will promote goodwill and be of benefit to the world.

Recite

At the end of each section, look up from the text and in your own works recite an answer to your question for that section. Then write down your answer. Be sure to provide example that support it.
Now repeat the question read and recite steps for each section of the chapter. First ask a question for the next section. Then read to find the answer. Finally, recite the answer in your own words and jot it down. The written questions and answer can help you study in the future

Review

After completing the chapter, review your notes. Identify the main points by looking for the most important idea in each section. Recite, or write a brief summary of the assignment.
Review your study notes every week to help you remember the information. When it’s time to prepare for your test, you’ll find you’ve created an invaluable study guide.

Question

As you survey the text, ask a question for each section. Ask what, why, how, when, who and where questions as they relate to the contest. Here’s how can create questions:
·         Turn the title, heading or subheadings into questions.
·         Rewrite the questions at the end of the chapter or after each subheading in your own words.
Write down your questions. Questions help you pay attention, understand the text better and recall the information more easily later on.

Read

Read one section of the chapter at a time, actively looking for an answer to your question for that section. Pay attention to bold and italicized text that authors use to make important points.
Be sure to review everything in the section, including tables, graph, and illustration these features can communicate an idea more powerfully that written text.
